Vigna la Corte

The house was built in 1963. It is in no way a typical Italian house, but with its large windows and wooden ceilings, luminous and spacious living and dining areas and generous terraces giving onto magnificent views or leading into a grove of ancient olives, it takes full advantage of the rather wild hill terrain while at the same time fitting in perfectly with it. Access to the house is up a flight of outside steps to a terrace which leads into the upper floor. Here is the sitting room (approx. 6m x 6m), with table, sofas and armchairs and open fireplace; 5 broad marble steps lead up to the kitchen-dining area (approx. 5m x 5m). The kitchen occupies a corner of the room and has a stove with hob and oven, fridge-freezer and sink, and a marble working surface. The dining table seats 12 and looks out onto a large enclosed olive grove; this is reached across a terrace which has chairs and table. Off this terrace there is a door which leads to a double bedroom (i.e. outside access only), with basin and WC en suite. The olive grove provides a safe and enclosed garden for children and slopes up towards the ruins of a small mediaeval convent, beyond which, at a distance of about 30 m from the house, is the pool (3.5m x 4.5m); this is set in its own gated garden from which one looks out over the surrounding countryside. There is also a pool house, with shower, basin (cold water only) and WC.

There are three terraces and shade at all times of day. In front of the house there is extensive sloping grass, with olives and fruit trees, leading down to a stream, which for reasons of safety is fenced off. There is always the sound of running water

Returning to the house, stairs from the sitting room lead down to the bedroom area. There is a light and airy double bedroom, a bathroom (bath tub with hand-held shower, bidet, basin and WC), and a second large (5m x 5m) bedroom, usually with 2 single or one double bed in it, but with space for a further bed; this room has a bathroom (shower, basin, WC) leading off it en suite and French windows giving onto the front of the house. Halfway down the stairs there is the "children's" bedroom, with two sets of double bunks and wash basin, (and the washing machine).

On account of the large number of steps, the house is not suitable for those with walking difficulties or very small children.
